I've always wanted a Nexus phone, but there has always been an important aspect missing for the way I use a smartphone. Leaving logs, though I confess to not looking very hard. Now that the dust left from the Nexus hype-train has settled, I thought it would be an ideal moment to get this short review up of Huawei's first entry into the Nexus game. Is it possible to submit a proper bug report someplace? I'm fairly technical (I do kernel development professionally) and know a little about Android (I dogfooded multiple pre-release Android devices when I worked at Google). I only noticed the problems after giving up on the Android Wear watch and going back to my trusty Band. I was briefly using an Android Wear watch around the time I replaced my phone, and was not really using the Band. I suspect this because the problems seem to have started after I upgrade from my Nexus 5 runningĪndroid 5.1. I suspect that the sync problemsĪre due either to my particular phone model (Nexus 6P), or to the Android version that I'm running (I'm still at 6.0.1, but that's far ahead of most devices). I was only able to sync after rebooting the band and toggling BT off/on on the phone. If anything, it was a bit harder to sync after my run this morning than it normally is. Unfortunately, things have not gotten any better. That gave me an opportunity to go through the above steps (since I had to unpair with my Band1 anyway). So I borrowed a Band2 from a friend while waiting for my Band1 to be replaced. The really frustrating thing is that the old phone almost always sync'ed on the first try. The old phone is powered off (and has been since I got the new one). I have the auto-sync frequency set in the health app to the shortest interval available. The Health App is the latest version in the play store. The phone is running Android 6.0.1 (MTC19X) Sync again for a few hours, but if it sits idle (like overnight), then it will almost always fail to sync again. And when that doesn't work, I reboot the phone. When that doesn't work, I toggle the phone's BT on & off. What seems to work most of the time is re-starting the band (power off / on). I've gone through the trouble-shooting steps.

When this happens, I stop getting notifications on my Band.

ThisĪlso sometimes happens when I leave my phone sitting on my desk for hours and hours and they try to sync later in the day. When the sync fails, the Band's BT icon is lit up, but the app says that it can'd find the Band, make sure it is nearby, etc. Seemed to work fine, however, the phone seems to loose track of the Band, and each morning after I wake up, sync fails. When I replaced the phone, I setup the Health app with the same account info on the new phone, and then I factory reset the Band and paired it with the health app on my new phone. I have used it quite happily since October.Ībout 1 month ago, I replaced my original Nexus 5 with a Nexus 6P. I have an original Band, which I really love.
